How to Fix Decimals and Commas in OSHA ITA Number Fields
A numeric field contains punctuation or a decimal format OSHA does not expect.
What this means
Many OSHA ITA fields are integer counts. Values such as 1,000 or 10.5 can fail even when they look readable in a spreadsheet.
Why this happens
- Spreadsheet formatting added thousands separators.
- Hours or days were entered with decimals.
- Blank numeric fields were exported instead of zeroes.
- A formula result was copied with formatting instead of plain value.
How to fix it manually
- Remove commas from numeric fields.
- Use whole numbers where OSHA expects integers.
- Use 0 instead of blank when the true count is zero.
- Export as plain CSV and reopen in a text editor to confirm formatting.
